The world we live in today is a wonderful place.  It is hard not to find beauty in anything that has been untouched by human hands. The natural environments that have been around as long as the earth has existed are truly special, and unfortunately they dwindle every day as the human population and its needs grow bigger and bigger.  Many of the world's environmental issues today have to do with general carelessness and a lack of knowledge pertaining to the population as a whole.  The depleting ozone layer, global warming, air pollution, water pollution, hazardous waste, and the ongoing destruction of the rainforest are all consequences of our actions from the last two centuries that responsibility must be taken for.  A call to action should be made, and has been made many times before, to attempt to preserve the planet that we all share.  If every person took just one baby step towards preventing the escalation of the planet's current problems, then the world would be a better place each day, baby step by baby step.  Throwing your soda can in the recycle bin or riding your bike instead of your car.  This can reduce the Empire State Building-sized mountain of trash that is added to our landfills every day, and will also delay the inevitable depletion of our planet's fossil fuels, the non-renewable resource that almost every single car owner relies on every day.  Some people view the concept of going "green" to be lame, but the fact of the matter is that doing so today is just about the hippest thing you could do. So don't just sit there - do something! - after all - it is the world we live in ~
